We need volunteer mediators in Surrey!

Due to an increase in our case load we urgently seeking new volunteer mediators. We offer free training that leads to Laser Learning (OCN) accreditation.

Do you have what it takes to be a Mediator?

– strong “people skills”, especially as a good listener and able to give good
– able to be directive, and to confront
– comfortable with high emotion, arguments, interruptions, tears
– respected and trusted, and able to remain confidential
– patient
– able to empathise and be gentle, to withhold judgement
– impartial: putting aside your own opinions, reactions and even some
– low need for recognition and having things turn out your way
– able to work with people of all ages, and from different backgrounds and

We are looking for people who:

– are committed (are willing to volunteer with us for at least 18 months)
– are available for training (6 days, over three weekends)
– are available approximately 8 hours per month (once trained)
– have their own transport and personal email address
– are easily contactable and who can keep up regular communication
with the service
– can work as a team (our mediators all work in pairs)
